Mulled Spiced Cider

CWA Service Partner, Mary Ann Mahle-Skulski, made this recipe a few years ago and everyone loved it so much it’s becoming a yearly tradition. Making it every year for Trick of Treat night in her neighborhood for her friends and family to enjoy, Mary Ann has become a master of this recipe, only needing to eye-ball the ingredients based on the number of guests she’s expecting.

From: Mary Ann Mahle-Skulski

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 2-3 Hours

Ingredients:

½ – ¾ gallon apple cider

2 oranges, zested and juiced

2 oranges, sliced very thin

1/3 – 1/2 cup sugar

3 – 4 whole cinnamon sticks

15 whole allspice berries

10 whole cloves

A few shakes ground nutmeg

To Make it An Adult Beverage:

1-2 oz. Brandy or Rum, more to taste.

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a cock pot.

Cook on low for 2-3 hours.

Top Tips:

Make sure not to let the drink boil, only heat to point of steaming. If it boils, no worries, just not as appealing as the cider will begin to form solids.

No Crock Pot? No biggie! You can make this on the stove pot in a Dutch oven or a soup pot on low heat.

Adjust measurements based on taste and number of drinkers.
